PEPCV

Pôle Eco-conception Performance du Cycle de Vie (PEPCV) is the national French center on eco-design and performance through the life cycle. Created in 2008, its purpose is to support the development of sustainable consumption and production. We work in collaboration with ADEME, the French environmental agency. It supports organizations in order to increase their performance and create value through life cycle thinking and eco-design while reducing environmental impacts. In this non-profit organisation, we deploy four levers of action with the various organizations with which we collaborate:

  • Inspire – To disseminate and convey life-cycle thinking to any type of organization
  • Stimulate – To help intermediation structures and companies to promote life cycle thinking, management and evaluation, through a structured network
  • Act – To advise and train companies by adapting to their maturity level and share good practices
  • Consolidate – To innovate in performance through the life cycle by collaboratively developing tools and methods in the face of new challenges
Read more…

The problems encountered in the organizations go back to the team of PECPCV thanks to its proximity to its members and dialogue with its stakeholders. These issues are as many topics to be addressed and treated in the activities. In order to respond to requests and needs for expertise, the team adapts to the degree of maturity of organizations in eco-design and also to their sector of activity. The profiles are therefore both generalist for a global understanding of the environmental and economic issues and specialists.

PECPCV has developed, over the past ten years, multiple communication tools to adapt its speech to its interlocutors. It relies on different media as website, magazine (www.mygreenmag.info), technical guide (Ecoconcept), feedback (Eco-initiative) to disseminate the benefits of performance through lifecycle to businesses and other organization.

Recognized for its neutrality and its ability to act on a national and international scale, PECPCV is committed to stimulating networks of existing players working on eco-design and performance through the life cycle. It promotes exchanges on their issues by bringing them together around the same table. It trains these actors and transmits them a methodological content of accompaniment of 1st level with the companies of their own networks.

With its technical expertise, PECPCV is alongside mature companies to help them integrate performance through the life cycle in their strategy: operationalize their life cycle management, check and promote good practices.

PEPCV has been working since its inception to develop operational methodological content. With its partnerships, it is the technical expert on ecodesign piloting experimental working groups and promoting innovation on complex or delicate subjects. With the desire to produce an accessible and practical methodological content.

Our non-profit organization is a training center for companies. Our pedagogical approach is centered on success of eco-design. We consider that regardless of the level of knowledge and the size of the company it is possible to act. For example, we have developed a method and training for professional designers in partnership with the designer cluster of Saint Etienne. We also work a lot for business, design and engineering schools. We offer classes on half-day to five-day sessions. We have participated in the educational content of the bachelor Ecodesign of the Landes Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Thus, our pedagogy mixes several approaches in order to learn the concepts, without prejudices, around the thought cycle of life:

  • A logical structuring with pedagogical contribution progressively as the advancement of Training;
  • The questioning, because to think about a question asked is to open up to welcome the answer, and so retain it;
  • The illustrations, because some have a visual memory, more than auditory;
  • Feedback, because a story real and lived transmits more content than theory;
  • The application of tools, makes it easier to visit account, and start to project the application that can be made in its own company;
  • The key success factors, through an analysis of causes of success and failure of a project eco-design allows for a better understanding of success factors. (Economic success and methodological success by reducing impacts);
  • A rhythm, between theory and practice for avoid loss of information.

The expertise of the Eco-design Pole is now recognized nationally and internationally within an organization such as ADEME, the Ministry of the Environment, AFNOR, ISO and the UN-environment.
